Schoenoplectus lacustris 'Tabernaemontani Zebra'
It is a perennial and rustic herbaceous plant native to Japan.
The peculiarity of this plant lies in its erect and thin stems that have alternating white and green rings, a unique phenomenon within its genus. Any stems without this streak must be removed to prevent the plant from returning to the non-variegated form. The flowers, small and inconspicuous, are gathered in terminal tufts. To maintain the health and liveliness of the plant, it is advisable to divide it every year in April.
Characteristics of the Plant:
- Exposure: Full sun or partial shade
- Flowering: From June to August
- Height above water level: 100–150 cm
- Depth below water level: 2–5 cm
