Physostegia virginiana

Physostegia virginiana is a hardy herbaceous perennial native to North America. The plant has irregular, lanceolate and finely toothed leaves of a deep dark green color. The flowers, of a delicate mauve color, have a corolla shaped like a snapdragon and are grouped in dense terminal spikes, creating a remarkable ornamental effect during the flowering season.
